Gatlinburg is a mountain city in Tennessee, United States that is a popular vacation resort of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Gatlinburg is surrounded by Le Conte and Sugarland Mountain to the south, Cove Mountain to the west, Big Ridge to the northeast, and Grapeyard Ridge to the east. There are many man-made tourism attractions. Such as Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country, Mysterious Mansion, Vincent “Val” Valentine, Sky lift, Gatlinburg Space Needle, Ober Gatlinburg. We can also try several kind of moonshine samples at Ole Smoky Moonshine for free.

– Smoky Mountain National Park

The Great Smoky Mountains (or commonly shortened to the Smokies) are a mountain range rising along the Tennessee to North Carolina border in the southeastern United States. This national park is a home to an estimated 187,000 acres (76,000 ha) of forest. The Great Smokies are also home to the densest black bear population in the Eastern United States and the most diverse salamander population outside of the tropics. Beside, there are also many waterfalls in the forest. Here are some hiking point to the Great Smokies:

Gatlinburg / Mt. LeConte Area:

Newfound Gap Rd and Roaring Fork Motor Trail (Alum Cave, Baskins Creek Falls, Brushy Mountain, Bullhead Trail, Chimney Tops, Grotto Falls, Huskey Gap, Rainbow Falls)

Newfound Gap / Clingmans Dome Area:

Clingmans Dome Road and Newfound Gap (Andrews Bald, Charlies Bunion, Deep Creek Headwaters, Fork Ridge Trail, Jump Off, Mt. LeConte, Noland Divide, Silers Bald, Spruce-Fir Trail, Sugarland Mtn Trail)

Cades Cove / Townsend Area:

Cades Cove, Rich Mountain Road, and Townsend (Abrams Falls, Ace Gap, Chestnut Top, Gregory Bald, Lumber Ridge Trail, Middle Prong Trail, Rich Mountain Loop, Rocky Top / Thunderhead, Schoolhouse Gap, Spence / Russell Field Loop, West Prong Trail).

Elkmont Area:

– Ober Gatlinburg

Ober Gatlinburg is an indoor and outdoor amusement park and ski area. Ober Gatlinburg is the only ski resort in Tennessee. It has eight ski trails and three chair lifts, and is accessible via roads and a gondola from the city strip. The area contains a large mall with indoor amusements (ice skating, carrousel, etc) and stores. There is also outside amusement including an alpine slide, a scenic chairlift to the top of Mount Harrison, maze, mini golf, Blue Cyclone Rapids, Chair Swing, and other rides. Here also lies Wildlife Encounter, where Great Smoky Mountains natives such as North American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus), river otters, opossums, raccoons, turtles, snakes, and flying squirrels live.
